Level Correction:Place the balance-as soon as possible on a firm table in a room with normal temperature,Take a careful view of level and then adjust the leveling screw. Be sure to adjust the level's bubble the middle. 2. Mounting the beam. Place the beam on the support. Take notice of the symbols " 1" and " 2" at opposite ends on the beam. After the beam is set m position,assembling the stirrups,hooks,pans in their proper place. 3. Leveling the beam:Turn the arrestment knob to the right,take a careful view of the beam,the pointer should rest against the "0" line. If not,turn the arrestment knob to the left and arrest the balance,then rotate the adjusting nuts at both ends on the beam. Adjustment is accomplished when the pointer coincides with the "O" line. 4. The weights and.' sample should be placed as near the center of the pan as possible,and the weight of the sample must not exceed the capacity of the balance. The balance should be arrested when placing or taking a sample on the pan,so as to avoid damage the balance. 5. Never increase or decrease the weights when the balance is released. The arrestrnent knob should always be turned gently and steadily. If the pointer is found deflected ,the balance must be arrested 'immediately. Then,the weights increased or decreased may commence.
